I’ve never done this whole blog thing, so I don’t really know what to expect out of it. I’m excited to have a place to just write what I’m thinking or feeling about basically whatever I feel like. I guess today we’re supposed to write about what the word I means to us. I never really thought about what it meant to me until I read that excerpt in class. People use I so often and nobody really thinks about what it means. Is it used to just talk about oneself, or do people use it and actually think who they really are? Even in the small amount I’ve written so far in my blog, I’ve used I numerous times, not even stopping to think about what it really means.
After reading the excerpt in class, I began to think about what I means to me, and who I really am. After actually thinking about it, I realized that I isn’t just a word used to talk about yourself in a sentence, it’s who you actually are. Your lifestyle, your mindset, the way you think about things, all of these make up “I” or who a person really is. In a sentence such as “I am going to the store.” you don’t really think about what I means. But it doesnt just mean you, physically as a person. It means you as an intelligent, growing, i-have-alot-to-offer-in-life, human being. If you don’t believe that you are unique and believe in yourself to be more than just another person, then I really means nothing to you, and I would assume that you don’t really know much about yourself.
I just recently started learning who I am. College has opened me up to a whole new world and a whole new way of thinking. This all contributes to who I really am, and what I really means. If I would have been asked to explain “what I is” a year ago, I probably would have just described it as a word used to explain oneself in a sentence. I’ve grown to know and love myself, and realize that I am more than just a person, and that I have so much more to do in life. As you grow and have more expriences in life, you learn more about who you are, giving you a finer definition of what I is. So I think that since I’ll continue learning new things about myself and others as life goes on, I will never truly know what I is, because it will continually be changing as my life does.
Twinny!
I love how you used your real life to explain the meaning of I. I like how you incorporated college and how you have changed.
P.S.- It was very deep.. lol
Tanisha, I like the mind-set that you go about this writing assignment with. I like the way you are thinking positive and very open minded. I also agree with you about what makes us, us. I enjoy reading your writings, so keep this up.
I like how you expressed how much the word “I” really means to people. I also enjoyed the details and points you used to explain what the word really means. It even opened my eyes to understanding the word more than I already did.
Excellent job!!!! I really liked how you explored the different angles that could be examinied in the exploration of self.
Hey guys thanks for all of the feedback. I really took my time to think about what “I” actually means, so I’m glad you enjoyed it. =)
